hi! I really need to sleep, but I wanted to fire off a quick post.

I  really really hope I can get things reorganized here over the next week or so! I do have a lot to do, but I am sick of talking about it & ready to get it working.

I really hope/plan to get involved in more book-blogging.

Hope y’all are doing well! Wisb me luck. ;)

A late “Getting to Know You” post for the 24readathon

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

I’m in South Carolina. :)

3 facts about me…
1.) When I was a kid & before I could read - I used to carry books around & read to myself. These stories were complete jibberish. :) I used to take crayons & cross out the lines & “write” my own story. My parents kept recordings & I wish I had them. I used to entertain myself for hours. :)

2.) I’m 29 years old. The big 3-0 is later this year!

3.) I *always* have a book, journal & pen with me.

This is my first year & I’m slow starting today - but I’m here for the rest of the day. Hope everyone is having fun! Enjoy yourself!

24-hour Readathon

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

I know the links on the right aren’t properly working & extremely out of date! Please ignore that for now.

This is my first year participating in the 24hourreadathon. I’m quite excited! I’m a little behind getting started, but I started in hour #3.

The goal is to finish “The Song is You” by Arthur Phillips first. Then move on to “Drood” to Dan Simmons. (Halfway through both)

Have fun everyone! :) Enjoy your day!!

Dracula + late at night = not a good idea. *laughs*

Sunday, June 27th, 2004

*mental note*

Reading Dracula right before bed may not be such a great idea in the future.

I don’t remember many dreams usually.. and those that I do remember are strange. but last night… I had just one after the other.. *shudders* I don’t feel rested at all today.

I’ve watched quite a few movies this weekend - I’ll give each of them their own post later.

Hope everyone is having/had a great weekend! :)

a rainy day & book shopping

Sunday, June 20th, 2004

My Saturday was pretty quiet.. I spent the day book shopping and reading. (fantastic way to spend a day with dreary weather)

I’m going to finish The Unbearable Lightness of Being within the next day or two… I can’t put together a proper babbling about this book yet though. Someone asked me if I liked it earlier and all I could say was, “Umm.” I love it - I just can’t seem to talk about it right now. (also, the fact it is past 4am doesn’t help.)

What books did I get the past few days? Well, I’ve added a lot of stuff to my “summer reading list” - and there were a ton of books I wanted.. narrowing down that list today was quite difficult. Anyways, here is what I picked up…

yet another post about A Venetian Affair ;)

Monday, June 14th, 2004

Alright, I’ve had this window open for ages now and I just can’t seem to finish this post. My mind just keeps drifting. This post is just me babbling about the book I’m reading - sorry. All I can seem to babble about this weekend. It has taken over.. if anyone asks me what I’m doing this weekend - I start talking about it. If someone calls me? They hear about it too. Anytime I was out? I was just checking my watch constantly until I could get back to it. Obesessive.. yeah. I realize what a geek I’m sounding like right now.

The book just completely sucks you into Venice and Paris in the 1750s. I put it down once a few months ago because it’s so intense.. now I’m right back in love with the whole thing.

What I find the most interesting… even though our lives are completely different than someone that lived in 1750.. the basic human emotions and needs are there. That just doesn’t change. The characters in the book are mainly around the same age I am.. (early-mid 20’s) That is why I’m so in love with it - I’m finding it fascinating that they aren’t even that different than someone I would be friends with.

I’m reading this book very slowly - I can’t wait to find out what happens to them but at the same time… I don’t want it to end. I keep saying that.

a day full of reading… fantastic.

I think the sign of a good book is when you absolutely cannot stop talking about it.

Really.

*goes back to reading*

Anil’s Ghost

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004

I finish reading Anil’s Ghost by Michael Ondaatje finally. (I say finally because it took me ages to finish.) If I picked it up - I fell asleep. So it took awhile. :)

I normally love Michael Ondaatje. I didn’t love this book though. Not at all. I cared nothing for the characters - even though I really tried to. I almost gave up on it a few times but since I had given up on the last few books - I felt bad doing that. (guilt! heh) I was just ready to start on something new.

Sadly, I have no rave reviews for this one.

I’m still trying to catch up my movies/books recently - so that is why every post is me rambling about something. :P

I just realized this was my first post of June.. wow. Time does fly. I really can’t get over that.
