weird dream

Friday, August 30th, 2002

I’ve posted entries before about dreams.. (when I get my GM archives converted to MT, I’ll put some of them back up.. I still can’t figure out why it won’t let me convert GM to MT stuff. Anyways. off topic!) Okay so, the other night I had this weird dream I meant to post about.. Usually, I don’t remember my dreams.. but the ones I do remember just seem so absurd. =) This one is definitely silly…

I was at a beach.. I don’t know who was with me because they were faceless. (just blurry, no distinctive features - most of the people in my dreams are like that.) Along the becah there were these bright reddish colored jellyfish… everywhere. Okay, some of them were dead - some weren’t, I guess.. Anyways, I ended up being stung on the foot. It left this horse-shoe type mark on my foot for some reason… and there were these holes everywhere. On my other foot, I only had half a horseshoe-shaped mark.. Anyways, I then somehow ended up at the hospital. There were people in the hospital room with me, but they were faceless… It was the same person from the beach. Now there was someone else… I think it was my father. Alright, so the doctor checks out my feet and goes, “These are jellyfish eggs inside your foot, we must get these out!” and started freaking out and pulling these things out of my foot.

Anyways, that’s all I really remember about it - at one point my doctor disappeared and someone else took his place.. that’s it.

Silly, huh?

I wonder what I had eaten the night before.

Iris

Thursday, August 29th, 2002

I rented Iris tonight.. wow, the acting in this movie is just incredible. I’ve been wanting to see it for awhile now… the author Iris Murdoch fascinates me. I’ve had one of her books on my shelf for ages, but I’ve never read it. (I have the total urge to start reading it tonight though..)

I was curious if I could find any quotes by her… I found a few. =) I think I’ll add these to my collection of quotes…

We can only learn to love by loving. ~ Iris Murdoch

Happiness is a matter of one’s most ordinary and everyday mode of consciousness being busy and lively and unconcerned with self. ~ Iris Murdoch

Falling out of love is very enlightening. For a short while you see the world with new eyes. ~

Writing is like getting married. One should never commit oneself until one is amazed at one’s luck. ~ Iris Murdoch

My Dream of You

Wednesday, August 28th, 2002

This book (My Dream of You by Nuala O’Faolain) has been sitting on my bookshelf for about a year… and the other day I was browsing my shelf deciding what I was going to read next & I saw it. I started reading it tonight.. and gosh, I just don’t want to do anything else today but read this book. hehe… It’s about this Irish woman living in London and working as a writer - and she starts researching this true story about an Irish landowner who divorced his wife for having an affair with their handyman during the Potato Famine. The book has things like.. piece of the court documents and whatnot.

It seems pretty interesting, so far.. =)

and now, I’m just rambling!

in the night we shall go in

Tuesday, August 27th, 2002

I know this poem is about springtime, but… it made me smile.. so I just had to post it. =)

In the Night We Shall Go In….

~Pablo Neruda

In the night we shall go in,
we shall go in to steal
a flowering, flowering branch.

We shall climb over the wall
in the darkness of the alien garden,
two shadows in the shadow.

Winter is not yet gone,
and the apple tree appears
suddenly changed into
a fragment of cascade stars.

In the night we shall go in
up to its trembling firmament,
and your hands, your little hands
and mine will steal the stars.

And silently to our house
in the night and the shadow,
perfume’s silent step,
and with starry feet,
the clear body of spring.

about that short story…

In this post (a short story) I linked a story I recently had to read for Lit. class…

tyd told me it was based off of a real character - which just blew my mind… Wow. Anyways, this link is for those that read the story!

Here’s the paper.

Thanks tyd! =)
